Bruins sweep Baker for 9th-straight win

The 20th-ranked Bellevue University volleyball team won its ninth-straight match with a 3-0 (25-21, 25-19, 25-23) sweep over Baker University Friday evening in the MidAmerica Nazarene Invitational.

Bellevue's nine-straight wins have all come in three-game sweeps. The Bruins are currently 13-3 on the season. Baker fell to 11-5 and had their eight-match winning streak snapped.

Kali Schnacker led the Bruins with 10 kills (10k-4e-17a) . She was error-free in her last seven attack attempts.

Junior Maureen Wardian recorded eight block assists as the Bruins had nine total team blocks. Katy Gregory led the Bruin defense with 11 digs. Sophomore Jordan Broady dished out 33 assists.

"We were able to shut down their go-to players on the outside and keep them off balance with our offensive attack," said head coach Trish Siedlik. "We were able to hold off a late charge in the third game to get the sweep."

Earlier in the day, the Bruins cruised past Benedictine 25-19, 25-11, 25-15.

Bellevue will continue action at the MNU Invitational on Saturday with a 12 p.m. match against Evangel and a 4 p.m. showdown with the host school MidAmerica Nazarene.
