Muller, Wardian lead Bruins to sweep over York

BELLEVUE, Neb. -- Senior Rachel Muller and sophomore Maureen Wardian combined for 27 kills to lead 15th-ranked Bellevue University to a 3-0 (25-12, 25-14, 25-12) sweep over York College in MCAC volleyball action Saturday afternoon at the Gordon Lozier Athletic Center.

Bellevue won its ninth-straight match and 26th-consecutive MCAC regular season match while improving to 23-6 overall and 11-0 in the league standings. York fell to 4-20 and 2-9 in league play.

Muller registered her 19th double-double of the season with 16 kills and 15 digs, both match highs.  She also hit at a .464 clip. Wardian hit .556 with 11 kills, while adding two blocks.

Freshman Jordan Broady directed the BU offense to a .404 attack percentage while collecting 33 assists, four kills and three digs.

Junior Katy Gregory and senior Kayla Gaughen joined Muller in double figures in digs with 14 and 10, respectively.

Muller had five kills and six digs as the Bruins went on a 13-2 run to close out the first set.

Wardian and junior Jaclyn Thorson each pounded four kills in the second set to pace the BU attack.

Muller tallied eight kills in the third set and hit a blistering .700 as Bellevue went on a 14-4 scoring spurt to end the match.

The Bruins will head to Seward, Neb., on Wednesday, Oct. 28, for a 7 p.m. nonconference match with Concordia.
