BELLEVUE, Neb. -- Fourteenth-ranked Morningside's Jamie Vander Kooi blasted 26 kills on .404 hitting to lead the Mustangs to a 3-2 (25-23, 22-25, 23-25, 25-21, 15-12) victory over No. 15 Bellevue University in non-conference volleyball action Tuesday night at the Gordon Lozier Athletic Center.

With the loss, the Bruins drop to 14-6 on the season, while Morningside improved to 22-2.

Sophomore Kali Schnacker and junior Jaclyn Thorson combined for 38 kills to lead the Bruin attack.

Schnacker collected a season-high 20 kills while hitting at a .310 clip. Thorson added 18 kills on .419 hitting and added four blocks.

Freshman setter Jordan Broady registered a double-double with 50 assists and 11 digs while directing the BU offense to a .236 hitting percentage. Broady also added five kills and a pair of blocks.

Defensively, the Bruins were led by junior Katy Gregory's 18 digs.

Morningside raced out to an 8-3 lead in the decisive fifth game. But the Bruins battled back to within two points on three separate occasions but could get no closer as Vander Kooi closed out the match with her 26th kill.

Bellevue will hit the road this weekend to play at College of the Ozarks on Friday, Oct. 2, at 7 p.m. and at Oklahoma Wesleyan on Saturday, Oct. 3, at 1 p.m.
