Bruins drop heartbreaker to No. 6 Raiders

BELLEVUE, Neb. -- Hillary Hanno blasted 23 kills to lead 6th-ranked Northwestern (Iowa) College to a 3-2 (25-21, 20-25, 22-25, 25-19, 18-16) win over No. 15 Bellevue University Friday afternoon in BU's first match of the Bruin/Premier Classic at the Gordon Lozier Athletic Center.

Senior Rachel Muller recorded her 11th double-double of the season with 15 kills and 15 digs to the lead the Bellevue attack. Kali Schnacker added 13 kills and Maureen Wardian contributed with 12 kills and five blocks in the loss.

Freshman Jordan Broady dished out 45 assists while adding 14 digs in collecting her fifth double-double of the season.

Senior Gabby Pfannenstiel paced the Bellevue defense with 16 digs.

The Bruins trailed 14-10 in the decisive fifth game before two kills by Schnacker, a pair of Raider hitting errors and a block by Lace Puffer and Jaclyn Thorson gave the Bruins match point at 15-14. With the scored knotted at 16, a pair of Bellevue hitting errors ended the match.

Bellevue will continue action in the tournament tonight with an 8:15 p.m. match against MidAmerica Nazarene.
