BU inks signature from Hawaiian midfielder Takara-Haraki

BELLEVUE, Neb. -- Bellevue University head women's soccer coach Tom White has announced the signing of Rendi Takara-Haraki (Mililani, Hawaii) to a letter of intent to continue her academic and athletic careers at Bellevue beginning next fall.

The daughter of Corey and Tammy Takara-Haraki, Rendi comes to Bellevue University after playing her club soccer at Hawaii Rush under the guidance of Arian Hoxha.

During her time at Hawaii Rush Takara-Haraki was a three time state champion. In 2017, Hawaii Rush reached the regional semifinals in Seattle, Wash.

An excellent student, Takara-Haraki possesses a 4.1 GPA and has achieved status on the Mililani High School Honor Roll or Dean's List in every quarter of her high school career. On the playing field she helped her high school team, coached by Daren Smith, to the D1, OIA Championship during her freshman season.

Coach White on Takara-Haraki:

"We are very excited that Rendi is joining our program next fall. She will add competition within the midfield unit. She is technically superb and is a joy to watch when the ball is at her feet. We are not just getting a great footballer but we are adding a great person that will do anything for the team and her team mates".

Takara-Haraki joins previously announced signee Shadine Rutherford (Kingston, Jamaica) in the Bruins' 2022 recruiting class.

Bellevue wrapped up a successful 2021 campaign by returning to the NAIA National Tournament for the first time since 2014. Despite an injury-riddled and trying season on the field, the Bruins won their semifinal at the CAC Tournament for the first time to secure a spot in the NAIA Opening Round.
