Staufenbiel recognized as CAC Defensive Player of the Week

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- Bellevue University senior Sabrina Staufenbiel (Monchengladbach, Germany) has been named the Continental Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the CAC office on Monday afternoon.

Staufenbiel made five saves in the Bruins' 3-1 win over Waldorf last Wednesday. The lone goal allowed came via a penalty kick in the second half. BU has now won three of their last four games to improve to 6-8-0 on the season.

For the season, Staufenbiel has totaled 69 saves, just seven off her career-high for a season, stopping 75 percent of shots that have come her way. She has posted a 1.60 goals against average and logged a pair of shutouts in goal.

The award is the second of Staufenbiel's Bruin career. The two-time all-conference selection was previously honored as the A.I.I. Player of the Week on Mar. 8.

Bellevue is in the midst of a 17-day break before they return to the pitch on Saturday, Oct. 30 for a 2 p.m. game at St. Ambrose (9-5-0 / 7-3-0 CCAC) in Davenport, Iowa.
