Bruins shut out by Red Raiders

ORANGE CITY, Iowa — Northwestern College received a goal in each half as the Red Raiders defeated the Bellevue University women's soccer team 2-0 on Saturday afternoon at the NWC Soccer Complex.

Bellevue: 2-3-0

Northwestern: 1-0-1

Recap: Northwestern 2, Bellevue 0

Maddi Avery scored in the 23rd and 66th minutes to elevate Northwestern to victory. 

Bellevue competed well, peppering 12 shots on the NWC defense with five landing on goal but Red Raider keeper Destinee Montenegro turned aside each chance she faced. 

Sabrina Staufenbiel held up well in her goal for the Bruins. She made seven saves to keep her team in contention.

Tatiana Garcia assisted on Avery's fort goal while Nikky Farnsworth picked up the assist on the second.

Bellevue travels to Sioux Center, Iowa on Monday, Sept. 2 for a 3 pm kickoff against Dordt College from the Dordt Soccer Complex.
