Bruins welcome Hastings transfer Weyant into fold

BELLEVUE, Neb. -- Bellevue University women's soccer coach Andy Nicolarsen announced today the signing of Emily Weyant (Omaha, Neb./Hastings College/Millard South HS) to a National Letter of Intent to continue her academic and athletic careers at Bellevue beginning in the fall of 2018.

Weyant is a transfer student from Hastings College and will have three years of eligibility remaining. As a freshman at Hastings, Weyant was a major contributor to their National Tournament run. She scored six goals and assisted on three for the season.

Originally from the Omaha-Metro area, Weyant was a four-year varsity letter-winner at Millard South High School. She helped lead the Patriots to a pair of State Tournament appearances during her junior and senior seasons scoring 25 goals and piling up 21 assists in her four-year career.

Weyant played club soccer with Fiera of Omaha Metro Wolves. She was coached by Rick Esparza and Gauthier Scherlizin. At Bellevue she intends to pursue a degree in Health Science.

Coach Nicolarsen on Weyant:

"Emily is a great addition to the team. She is competitive, solid technically and tactically, and has experience playing at high levels of the game. She makes us much more dangerous going forward."

Weyant joins six earlier signees in the 2018 class: Faith Smith (Madison Heights, Va./Liberty University), Sofia Colvin (Edmonds, Wash./Iowa Western CC), Saskia Pepel (Mossingen, Germany/Quenstendt-Gymnasium Mossingen), Maria Flores Tome (Malaga, Spain/Baker), Jacy Dundee (Omaha, Neb./Central HS), Alexis Tolliver (Springfield, Neb./Platteview HS), and Nancy Neri (Omaha, Neb./Omaha South HS).

The Bruins finished the 2017 campaign with an 11-5-0 overall record and a 3-1-0 NSAA mark as they advanced to the Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) Tournament semifinals.
