BELLEVUE, Neb. -- The Bellevue University women's soccer team secured their second-straight win with a 2-1 triumph over visiting Grand View University on Saturday evening at Bellevue Soccer Club.
Maiwut Dar scored her team-leading fourth goal of the year and Kylee Mastromonaco found the back of the net for the first time in her collegiate career for the host side as Bellevue improved to 3-2-0 on the season.
Haley Waseskuk scored Grand View's lone goal but it wasn't enough to prevent the Vikings from falling to 3-3-0 with the loss.
BU struck early as Dar intercepted a goal kick at the top of the box before nutmegging the keeper from distance to put the Bruins up 1-0 in the game's 10th minute.
Despite a sizable 9-2 edge in shots the game advanced to halftime at 1-0 in favor of the Bruins.
The game remained 1-0 until the 61st minute when Waseskuk pulled Grand View level. She stole possession from a BU defender and beat keeper Laurence Rodier over the top from about 20 yards out.
The game looked destined for extra time until Mastromonaco overpowered a Viking defender and won the ball. She took possession into the box where she found herself one-on-one with the keeper and beat her to the far side for the game-winner in the 81st minute.
For the game Bellevue out-shot Grand View 17-5 (7-3 on goal) and won nine corner kicks without conceding a corner themselves.
Rodier (W, 2-1-0) stopped a pair of shots in the second half to earn the win.
The Bruins return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 13 when they travel to Omaha for a 4 p.m. kick-off against the College of Saint Mary Flames.
