BELLEVUE, Neb. -- The Bellevue University women's soccer team, under head coach Andy Nicolarsen, announced today the signing of Abby Furley (Gretna, Neb.) to a letter of intent to continue her academic and athletic career at Bellevue beginning in the fall of 2017.

Furley is the daughter of Jennifer Sellers and currently a senior at Gretna High School. She is an honor roll student and a member of the varsity soccer and cross country teams. She qualified for the state cross country meet her junior year, earning a spot on the All-Conference Academic Team. In soccer, she helped her team to a runner-up finish in the state soccer championships also earning recognition on the All-Conference Academic Team.

She is coached by Digger Hawkins at Gretna High School. Furley played her club soccer for Gretna Prima White for the past six seasons, serving as the team's captain and one of the main offensive threats. Prima White is coached by Ben Hawkins. Furley plans on majoring in Psychology at Bellevue while possible pursuing a degree in Secondary Education.

Coach Nicolarsen said of Furley, "Abby is a versatile player that brings with her a high level of fitness, speed, and quickness. She is dangerous with the ball at her feet and like to press and attack. She will fit in nicely with what we are trying to do and develop into a very good college player."

This past season, the Bruins posted a 12-5-1 overall record and a 3-1-0 mark in conference play en route to claiming both the NSAA Regular-Season and Tournament Championships. BU closed the season on a high note, winning four-straight games and posting an 8-1-1 mark in their final 10 contests.
