Bruins sweep final NSAA weekly honors

MADISON, S.D. -- A pair of Bellevue University women's soccer players have been honored by the North Star Athletic Association as Players of the Week in the final weekly award program of the 2016 season.

Senior forward Michelle Dolder was named the NSAA's Offensive Player of the Week and junior goalkeeper Laurence Rodier was named the NSAA's Defensive Player of the Week.

Dolder was the most explosive player in the 2016 NSAA Tournament, scoring three goals to lead Bellevue to their first North Star Tournament title. Leading 1-0, she scored an insurance goal in the 84th minute of the semi-final round to provide cushion as BU defeated Presentation to reach the final for the second-straight year. She followed that performance up with a pair of goal in the NSAA Championship match to become the first player in league history with two goals in the final.

Rodier continued her fine work in goal, turning in a pair of stellar performances in the NSAA Tournament to lead Bellevue to their first North Star Tournament title. She earned her sixth shutout of the season in a 3-0 semi-final win over Presentation. Rodier followed that up with four saves in the NSAA Championship match as she totaled a 0.50 goals against average and .857 save percentage in the tournament.

The Bruins (12-5-1) claimed both the NSAA Regular Season and Tournament Championships and are awaiting word on whether they've done enough to earn a bid to the NAIA National Tournament.
