BELLEVUE, Neb. -- Goals by Madison Lambert and Jordyn Seidel gave the Bellevue University women's soccer team a 2-0 victory over Waldorf University on Saturday afternoon and secured the Bruins' first North Star Athletic Association Regular Season Championship.

The Bruins improve to 10-5-1 on the season and 3-1-0 in conference play while Waldorf falls to 4-9-2 overall and 0-2-2 in NSAA play.

Bellevue got on the board in the 17th minute after controlling possession and maintaining constant pressure on the Warrior defense. Lambert, after receiving a pass from Reyvin Hernandez, looked toward the center of the box with a cross but between wind and tail on the ball it ended up just off the goal line and bounced off Hanna DeVries hands and into the back of the net for an early Bruin advantage. The goal was her team-leading seventh of the season.

That would be all the scoring for the first half despite BU holding a 16-3 advantage in shots ahead of the intermission.

The Bruins added an insurance goal in the 65th minute. Following a giveaway by a Waldorf defender, Seidel chased down the ball, dribbled into the box, and beat the keeper high for her sixth goal of the year.

That was all BU needed as Waldorf didn't manage a shot on goal in the second half.

Laurence Rodier stopped the only shot on goal she faced as she earned her fifth shutout of the season and lowered her goals against average to 0.93. She has recorded shutouts in three of the last four games.

DeVries saved four shots for Waldorf who was out-shot 24-4 for the match.

The regular-season title is BU's sixth overall as they had won five (2007, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2014) previously in the now-defunct MCAC.

For Bellevue, it's the 13th year in a row they've won at least 10 games.

Prior to Saturday's match, four Bellevue seniors – Jordyn Seidel, Victoria Perez, Lauren Clark, and Eliany Parra – were honored for their contributions to the program in the annual Senior Day ceremonies.

The Bruins host the winner of No. 4 Presentation and No. 5 Waldorf in the semi-final round of the NSAA Tournament. The semi-final match will be played on Friday, Nov. 4 with a time and site to be confirmed in the near future.
