BELLEVUE, Neb. -- The Bellevue University women's soccer team defeated Concordia University by a count of 2-1 on Wednesday evening in non-conference action at Bellevue Soccer Club.

With the victory, the Bruins even their record at 3-3-0 on the season while Concordia drops to 4-2-1 with the loss.

Bellevue opened the scoring in the 36th minute. Michelle Dolder carried the ball down the sideline before cutting into the box where she played a pass to Reyvin Hernandez. Hernandez only got part of the shot with the ball winding up at the feet of Jordyn Seidel who knocked the ball in uncontested from just off the goal line.

BU carried that 1-0 advantage into the half while shots were even at eight apiece.

The lead didn't last long following the intermission as, in the 50th minute, Concordia's Rachel Bolin pulled the Bulldogs level. Bolin carried the ball in to the edge of the 18-yard box and sent what initially appeared to be a cross in over the top of Bruin keeper Laurence Rodier to the far upper 90.

Bellevue quickly reclaimed the lead with a 54th minute strike from Seidel, her second goal of the match. Eliany Parra played a ball to Madison Lambert who sent a cross to the near side of the field to Seidel. Seidel unleashed a powerful shot from just inside the area back across goal out of the diving reach of keeper Chrissy Lind.

Concordia had a chance to equalize in the 64th minute following a goal kick and a foul called against the Bruins just in midfield. CUNE played a ball into the middle of the box to Maria Deeter whose header was reflexively saved by Rodier to maintain the Bruins' advantage.

Rodier made stopped nine of 10 shots in goal for BU while Lind made four saves for Concordia.

BU was out-shot 20-18 for the match but held a slight 8-7 advantage in corner kicks.

The Bruins return to action on Saturday, Sept. 17 when they host Morningside College at 4 p.m. at Bellevue Soccer Club.
