Bruins add IWCC transfer Hernandez to 2016 recruit class

BELLEVUE, Neb. -- The Bellevue University women's soccer team, under head coach Andy Nicolarsen, announced today the signing of Reyvin Hernandez (Omaha, Neb./Iowa Western CC/Omaha Mercy HS). Hernandez signed a letter of intent to continue her academic and athletic careers at Bellevue, beginning in the fall of 2016.

Hernandez is transferring to Bellevue from Iowa Western Community College after completing her freshman year. She is originally from Omaha and is a graduate of Omaha Mercy High School.

She was a four-year varsity letter-winner at Mercy. Hernandez helped captain and lead her high school team to a semi-final appearance in the state tournament her senior year, earning first team All-State honors for her efforts.

Hernandez played her club soccer for Omaha FC Elite under Coach Andy Benkis. While at Iowa Wester, she finished her freshman season as the team's leading scorer with 15 goals and three assists to help guide the Reivers to a regular-season conference championship.

Coach Nicolarsen on Reyvin Hernandez:

"Reyvin is a talented player. She possesses all of the tools needed for success. Having already competed at high levels in high school, club, and collegiately, will allow her to make an immediate impact. I look for Rey to have a great career on the field for us here at BU."

Hernandez joins earlier signees Morgan Sheard (Papillion, Neb./Papillion La Vista HS), Maiwut Dar (Omaha, Neb./Midland University), Rebecca Folda (Schuyler, Neb./Schuyler Central HS), and Rylan Mahoney (Platteview HS) in the Bruins' 2016 recruiting class.
