BELLEVUE, Neb. -- The Bellevue University women's soccer team, under head coach Andy Nicolarsen, has announced the signing of Rebecca Folda (Schuyler, Neb./Schuyler Central HS) to a letter of intent to continue her academic and athletic careers at Bellevue.

Folda is the daughter of Michael and Sandy Folda and currently a senior at Schuyler Central High School. At Schuyler Central, Becca – a midfielder – is a three-sport standout, earning 11 letters and captaining her high school basketball, volleyball, and soccer teams. For her efforts on the soccer field, she earned All-State honorable mention heading into her senior season this spring.

A Champion of Character off the pitch, Folda is heavily involved in numerous activities both at her high school and in her community. She is also an excellent student and currently ranked number one in her class academically.

Andy Nicolarsen on Rebecca Folda:

"Becca is a great signing for us. Soccer-wise she adds athleticism, strength, solid technique, and a strong competitiveness to the midfield. But what is special about her is not only what she can do on the field but what she will bring to our campus community as a whole. Becca is the type of kid that you want on the team representing your program and your university. There is no doubt that she will have success for us and go on to do great things post-graduation."

Bellevue posted a 12-4-0 record this past season and finished the year receiving votes in the postseason NAIA Coaches' Poll while reaching the North Star Athletic Association Championship Game in their first year as a member. The Bruins have made five NAIA National Tournament appearances (2010-14), all coming in the last six seasons under the tutelage of Nicolarsen. BU also has three additional Region IV Tournament appearances (2005-07) under Nicolarsen which came prior to the NAIA's post-season format change.
