BELLEVUE, Neb. -- Bellevue University women's soccer senior Aubriana Batchelor has been named North Star Athletic Association women's soccer Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the NSAA.

It is the first such honor for Batchelor, who was named Second Team all-MCAC and Honorable Mention Omaha World-Herald NAIA all-Nebraska last season.

Last week Batchelor helped the No. 16 Bruins to a pair of victories – over Dordt and Northwestern – to level their record at 2-2-0 on the season. In a back-and-forth thriller with Dordt, Batchelor scored the game-winning goal on a header off of a corner kick by sophomore Kylie Taylor. Incidentally, the only other goal of her career was also a game-winner.

She followed that performance up by anchoring a back four which posted their first shutout of the season in a 2-0 win at Northwestern on Saturday. The defense limited the Red Raiders to just one shot on goal for the match and two shots in total.

Bellevue returns to the pitch on Thursday, Sept. 10 with a 5 p.m. match at College of Saint Mary.
