BELLEVUE, Neb. -- The Bellevue University women's soccer program, under six-time MCAC Coach of the Year Andy Nicolarsen, announced today the signing of Brianne Richards to a letter of intent for the 2015 season. Richards becomes the second signee in the 2015 recruiting class, joining Karina Alvarez (Salinas, Calif.).

Richards is a Papillion-La Vista South graduate and the daughter of Michael Richards and Deanna and Doug Schautman. She comes to Bellevue from Iowa Western Community College where she played under Coach Brad Silvey for the past two seasons.

While playing for Coach Silvey and the Reivers she scored over 50 goals in two seasons of work. She was a 1st Team NJCAA All American and National Champion in 2013 and a NJCAA 3rd Team All American and National Runner up in 2014. Bri is also an excellent student and will pursue a degree in Communication while at Bellevue.

Coach Nicolarsen was very pleased to sign Richards, saying, "Bri is a big time signing for us. She is a proven goal scorer at a high level of play. She has solid technique on the ball and that combined with her athleticism and commitment to work makes her a constant threat up top. We look for Bri to step in and make a big impact in our league."

Bellevue finished the 2014 season with an overall record of 16-2-0, including a perfect 6-0-0 mark in MCAC play on their way to claiming both the MCAC regular season and tournament championships.

The team advanced to the NAIA National Championship Opening Round for the fifth straight season.
