DAVENPORT, Iowa - Freshman Bailey Petzoldt (Hastings, Neb) made five saves but it wasn't enough as the Bellevue University women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision at No. 21 St. Ambrose University on Thursday afternoon. The loss, Bellevue's first of the season, drops the Bruins to 5-1-0 while St. Ambrose improves to 5-3-1.

Tori Novak scored the game's lone goal in the 58th minute with the assist being credited to Jade Blackwell.

The first half was tightly contested but, ultimately, it wound up being a scoreless affair. The Fighting Bees out-shot the Bruins 8-4 as freshman Bailey Petzoldt (Hastings, Neb.) made three of her game-high five saves in the opening 45 minutes.

The second half, much like the first, was played very evenly with St. Ambrose holding an 8-6 edge in shots. Morgan Lynn made three saves for the fighting Bees to preserve the shutout.

St. Ambrose out-shot Bellevue 16-10 and claimed a 6-4 advantage in corners – all coming in the second half. The game saw a total of 24 fouls, 14 against the Fighting Bees and 10 against BU.

Bellevue will next play on Sunday, Sept. 21 when they host McPherson College in a 1:00 p.m. matinee at Tranquility Park in Omaha, Neb.
