Bruins top College of St. Mary, 3-2, in double overtime

OMAHA, Neb. -- The Bellevue University women's soccer team posted a 3-2 double overtime win at College of St. Mary Wednesday afternoon in Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference action at Heritage Park.

With the win, Bellevue improved to 8-7-3 and 4-2-0 in the MCAC while College of St. Mary fell to 13-4-1 overall and 4-2-0 in conference action.

The Bruins scored first on Lauren Clark's goal only 23 seconds into the contest.

CSM answered back and tied the match at 1-1 on Christa Manning's goal in the 19th minute. 

Abby Zach netted her conference-best 21st goal of the season on a pass by Abby Schlater at the 78:02 mark in the second half. 

Yaritza Estrada sent the match into overtime with the game-tying goal with just 1:04 remaining in regulation. Kate Petersen was credited with the assist.

Mercy Darkoah scored her team-high eighth goal of the season at the 101:22 mark to give the Bruins the double overtime win. Darkoah now has two game-winning goals this season.

Estrada led BU with four shots while Darkoah and Petersen both registered three.

Sammy Sinecio earned her fifth win of the season in goal for BU and collected three saves.

CSM played the final 43 minutes with 10 players following a red card on its starting goalkeeper in the 59th minute of action. 

The Bruins will return to action on Nov. 14-15 when they play in the MCAC Tournament.
