OMAHA, Neb. -- The Bellevue University women's soccer team claimed the MCAC regular season title with a 2-2 tie against visiting Oklahoma Wesleyan University Saturday afternoon at Tranquility Park.
The Bruins, who are unbeaten in their last eight games, moved to 11-3-1 on the season and finished the MCAC regular season with a 6-0-1 record. OWU is now 13-3-2 overall and 5-1-1 in league play.
Pairings and times for the MCAC Tournament will be announced on Monday (Oct. 29). The Bruins will host a semifinal match on Saturday, Nov. 3. The championship match is set for Saturday, Nov. 10.
OWU took an early lead with a goal by Libby Storie at 3:44 on a shot from the rightside over Bellevue's goal keeper Caitlin Stier into the left corner.
The Bruins quickly tied it up three minutes later with a header by Kate Peterson off a free kick from Yaritza Estrada.
Bellevue took a 2-1 advantage at 13:24 when Betsy Fischenich scored her eighth goal of the season off a pass from Emily Hester.
The Eagles tied the game at 2-2 with a rebound shot by Ashley Burnett that found the right corner of the net at 53:57.
Oklahoma Wesleyan held a slight 19-18 advantage in shots in the match and a 12-8 margin in shots on goal.
Stier finished with a season-high 10 saves while going to 10-3-1 on the season.
