OMAHA, Neb. -- The Bellevue University women's soccer team used an early first half goal by Mercy Darkoah to record a 1-0 conference victory over York College Wednesday afternoon at Tranquility Park.
Darkoah scored in the second minute of the contest with a drive down the middle past the Panther defense, giving the Bruins an early 1-0 advantage. That was all the offense BU needed as Caitlin Stier recorded her third shutout of the season, improving to 7-3 on the year.
Bellevue moved to 8-3 overall and 3-0 in the MCAC. York fell to 3-9-2 on the season and 1-2 in league play.
The Bruins held a 19-11 advantage in shots and a commanding 11-1 margin in shots on goal as York goalkeeper Katy Keefer registered nine saves in the loss.
