CONWAY, Ark. -- The Bellevue University women's soccer team overcame a 1-0 deficit, scoring three second-half goals to record a 3-1 victory at Central Baptist College in the conference opener for both teams Saturday afternoon.
The Bruins improved to 6-3 on the season and 1-0 in the MCAC. Central Baptist fell to 6-4 overall and 0-1 in league play.
Bellevue will travel to McPherson, Kan. next Saturday, Oct. 6, for a 12 p.m. conference match with Central Christian College.
After a scoreless first period, the Eagles scored just after halftime on an own goal off Rebecca Fairfax to take a 1-0 lead. Bellevue tied it up at 57:06 on a penalty kick goal by Paige Wischmann.
Kate Petersen got the game-winner with 7:46 remaining in the contest, scoring on a header off a corner kick from Betsy Fischenich. The Bruins added an insurance goal in the 84th minute when Fischenich scored a rebound goal off a 30-yard shot from Wischmann.
