Strong second half boosts BU over Bethany, 2-0

LINDSBORG, Kan. -- The 20th-ranked Bellevue University women's soccer team got second-half goals from Paige Wischmann and Rebecca Fairfax en route to a 2-0 victory at Bethany (Kan.) College Saturday afternoon in non-conference action. 

Bellevue (4-2) will travel to Davenport, Iowa on Wed., Sept. 19 for a 2 p.m. non-conference match at St. Ambrose University. The Swedes fell to 2-3 on the season with the loss. 

After a scoreless first half, the Bruins wasted no time after intermission as Wischmann found the back of the net just 45 seconds into the second period. Jessica Damery was credited with the assist. 

Bellevue extended the lead to 2-0 when Fairfax sored off a pass from Betsy Fischenich at 52:46. 

Caitlin Stier improved to 3-2 on the season, registering her first shutout on the year, while collecting five saves. 

Bellevue held a 16-5 advantage in total shots and an 8-5 edge in shots on goal.
