Bloom, Fischenich power Bruins past Concordia, 4-1

OMAHA, Neb. -- Led the Jenica Bloom and Betsy Fischenich, the 21st-ranked Bellevue University women's soccer team recorded a 4-1 non-conference victory over Concordia (Neb.) University Wednesday night at Tranquility Park. 

Bloom scored a pair of goals, while Fischenich added a goal and two assists in the BU victory. Paige Wischmann added the fourth Bruin goal.

After a scoreless first half, the Bruins scored three goals in a seven-minute span early in the second half. Bloom scored at the 51:33 mark and Wischmann found the back of the net four minutes later. Both assists were registered to Fischenich Bloom added another goal in the 59th minute on a pass from Yaritza Estrada

Concordia got on the board in the 74th minute with a goal by Rachel Mussell, assisted by Melissa Stine, cutting the lead to 3-1.

The Bruins added an insurance goal with an unassisted score by Fischenich in the 84th minute. 

Caitlin Stier improved to 2-1 on the season, recording four saves. Bellevue outshot the Bulldogs 14-7 and held a 7-4 advantage in shots on goal. 

The Bruins (3-1) will be idle until next Tuesday, Sept. 11, when they host Morningside College beginning at 5 p.m. at Tranquility Park. 

Concordia fell to 0-3 on the season with the loss.
