BALDWIN CITY, Kan. -- The No. 22 ranked Bellevue University women's soccer team fell to 18th ranked Baker University 2-1 on Saturday at Liston Stadium in the NAIA National Championship Opening Round.
The Bruins end their season at 14-2-3 while the Wildcats improved to 14-3-1 and advance to the NAIA National Championship final site in Decatur, Ala. on Nov. 29-Dec 3.
The Wildcats struck first when Skylar Baker beat Bellevue goalkeeper Caitlin Stier on a pass from Jordan Dolbin at 35:28 in the opening half.
Baker added to its lead just six minutes into the second half on a goal by Alix Schiraldi. Dolbin was again credited with the assist.
Meredith Shuman netted her team-high ninth goal of the season in the 75th minute of action, but the Bruins were unable to find the back of the net again, falling 2-1.
In goal, Stier recorded three saves for the Bruins while Rachel Theobald registered four saves in the win.
Baker outshot Bellevue 20-11 and were led by Dolbin who notched eight shots. Morgan Anderson paced the Bruins with four shots, two on goal.
