Fairfax goal lifts Bruins past Mustangs, 1-0

OMAHA, Neb. -- A goal by Rebecca Fairfax in the 51st minute of play proved to be the game-winner as the Bellevue University women's soccer team defeated Central Baptist College 1-0 Saturday afternoon at Tranquility Park on senior day. The Bruins haven't allowed a goal in their last five matches.

Bellevue improved to 12-1-2 and 5-0-0 in league play while Central Baptist dropped to 5-9-0 and 3-2-0 in the MCAC.

Fairfax scored the only goal of the match when she put away a loose ball in front of the net following a header by Mercy Darkoah that hit the post six minutes into the second half.

The Bruins out shot the Mustangs 17-3, including a 5-1 edge in shots on goal. Fairfax led BU with four shots, three on goal.

Caitlin Stier collected her ninth shutout of the season while Leah Crook recorded four saves in the loss for CBC.

The BU women's soccer team will conclude the regular season on Saturday, Oct. 29 with a noon match at Oklahoma Wesleyan University.
