Bellevue blanks Bethany, 2-0

OMAHA, Neb. -- After playing to a scoreless first half, the Bellevue University women's soccer team scored two second half goals to post a 2-0 win over Bethany (Kan.) College Friday evening at Tranquility Park.

Bellevue improved to 7-1-0 overall on the season while Bethany slipped to 2-4-0.

Mercy Darkoah broke the scoreless tie with her seventh goal of the season in the 65th minute on a pass from Jenica Bloom.
 
Alyssa Porter gave Bellevue an insurance goal at the 85:50 mark of the second period.

The Bruins controlled the action the majority of the contest and recorded 21 shots, seven on goal, while limiting the Swedes to just two shots. Darkoah unloaded five shots while Bloom and Porter both registered four shots.

Caitlin Stier notched her fourth shut out of the season. Swedes' goalkeeper Jessica Shepherd recorded five saves in the loss.

The Bruins will host Northwestern (Iowa) College on Saturday, Oct. 1 at 7:00 p.m. at Omaha South High School.
