Women's soccer inks Dolder for 2012

Bruin head women's soccer coach Andy Nicolarsen announced today the signing of Michelle Dolder (Cali, Colombia/Brooklyn International HS) to a national letter of intent to continue her athletic and academic careers at Bellevue University beginning in the fall of 2012.

Originally from Cali, Columbia, Dolder moved to Brooklyn, N.Y. to attend Brooklyn International High School where she competed in soccer for four years.  She recorded 25 goals and 12 assists for BIHS and was the four-year team MVP.  In addition to her work on the soccer field, Dolder was also an honor roll student at Brooklyn International.

"We are very happy to have Michelle on the team," said Nicolarsen. "She is technically proficient, smart on the ball and has a sense for the back of the net. Not only is she a very good player but she is a good student with a great attitude. I anticipate that she will fit in very well with our program."

Dolder is the daughter of Olga Velez and Erick Dolder and sister to Stephanie and Tamara.

Dolder joins earlier signees, Aubriana Batchelor (Bellevue, Neb./Bellevue West HS), Heather Scholl (Plattsmouth, Neb./Plattsmouth HS), Amanda Kuss (Plattsmouth, Neb./Plattsmouth HS), Betsy Fischenich (Omaha, Neb./Burke HS) and Kate Petersen (Springfield, Neb./Platteview HS) in the 2012 recruiting class.

The 2011 Bruins finished the season with a 14-2-3 overall record, winning the MCAC Tournament title and tying for the MCAC regular season crown with a 5-0-1 league record. Bellevue advanced to the NAIA National Championship for the second-straight season and ended the year with a No. 18 final national ranking.
