Nicolarsen signs Plattsmouth's Heather Scholl
The Bruin women's soccer program, under head coach Andy Nicolarsen, is pleased to announce the addition of Heather Scholl (Plattsmouth, Neb./Plattsmouth HS) who signed a letter of intent to continue her academic and athletic careers at Bellevue University beginning in the fall of 2012.

Scholl is the daughter of Joseph and Melody Scholl and sister to Jenni, Kristina and host sister Ingrid.

Scholl lettered in volleyball, track and soccer while at Plattsmouth High School and will help captain the soccer team into her senior season this spring.  She earned first team all-Eastern Midlands Conference and all-state honorable mention accolades for her play on the soccer field under coach Don Gilpin. Scholl was also awarded team defensive MVP honors in volleyball and placed at the state track meet as a freshman.

"We are extremely happy to have Heather join our program," said Nicolarsen. "She is athletic, technically skilled and knows how to read and play the game."

She plays her club soccer for OFC Rapids under head coach Mark Waddington.  The Rapids won the premier NSL league three years in a row and reached the semifinals of the state cup last season.

"Heather is an attacking player by nature and will significantly add to our options up front next season," added Nicolarsen.

In addition to athletics, Scholl is a good student and very involved in many other activities. She is president of the Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA), a member of Circle of Friends and Relay for Life, participates in American Red Cross blood drives and is an assistant volleyball and soccer coach for Plattsmouth youth teams.

Scholl joins earlier signees Amanda Kuss (Plattsmouth, Neb./Plattsmouth HS), Betsy Fischenich (Omaha, Neb./Burke HS) and Kate Petersen (Springfield, Neb./Platteview HS) in the 2012 recruiting class.

The 2011 Bruins finished the season with a 14-2-3 overall record, winning the MCAC Tournament title and tying for the MCAC regular season crown with a 5-0-1 league record. Bellevue advanced to the NAIA National Championship for the second-straight season and ended the year with a No. 18 final national ranking.
