Bruins dominate all-MCAC women's soccer selections
POINT LOOKOUT, Mo. -- The Bellevue University women's soccer team garnered six first team selections and two second-team nods as the 2010 all-Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference women's soccer teams were announced today by the league office. In addition, Morgan Anderson and Meredith Shuman were named co-Defensive Players of the Year, Erika Roberts earned Offensive Player of the Year accolades, and Andy Nicolarsen was named the MCAC Coach of the Year.

Joining Anderson, Shuman, and Roberts on the first team were redshirt freshman forward Jenica Bloom, junior midfielder Amy Stigge, and freshman goalkeeper Ana Price. Second team selections included senior midfielder Krystyn Yancone and sophomore midfielder Paige Wischmann.
Anderson and Shuman anchored the Bruin defense which recorded 11 shutouts in 2010. Anderson also recorded two game-winning goals and three assists on the season. Shuman collected one goal and an assist for three points.

Roberts led the Bruins with 10 goals, including six game-winners, and five assists for 25 points.

Bloom was second on the team with six goals and three assists for 15 points

Stigge started every game for the Bruins, registering two assists on the season.

Price finished the year with a 14-3-2 overall record, collecting 8.2 shutouts and 57 saves while recording a 0.63 goals against average.

The Bruins (15-4-2, 5-0 MCAC) captured the MCAC regular season and tournament titles and advanced to the NAIA Women's Soccer National Championship for the first time in school history after capturing the six-team Unaffiliated Group Tournament title. Bellevue fell in the NAIA Opening Round after tying 12th-ranked Oklahoma City University 0-0, before falling 4-3 in penalty kicks in the shootout.
