Bruins travel to Oklahoma City for NAIA Opening Round

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Bellevue University women's soccer team will travel to Oklahoma City on Saturday, Nov. 20 to take on 12th-ranked Oklahoma City University in the NAIA Women's Soccer National Championship Opening Round. Game time is set for 2 p.m.

The Bruins (15-4-1) earned an automatic berth into the National Championship after capturing the MCAC-FAC-DAC Unaffiliated Tournament title last weekend in Helena, Mont. This will be the first-ever appearance for Bellevue in the National Tournament. The Bruins also captured the 2010 MCAC regular season and tournament championships.

The Stars (19-2) clinched an automatic berth to the National Championship after capturing the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament  title following Saturday's 3-2 victory over John Brown University in the SAC Tournament title game.

2010 marks the fifth appearance for Oklahoma City University in the NAIA Women's Soccer National Championship. The Stars have a 6-4 overall record in championship play.

OCU has won 10 Sooner Athletic Conference championships, posting league crowns in 1994, 1997, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2008 and now 2010. The Stars were NAIA national tournament semifinalists in 1999 and 2000 and posted a second-place finish in 2001. Their most recent appearance in the national tournament came in 2008 in the Opening Round.

The winner of next Saturday's National Championship Opening Round match will advance to the National Championship final site from Nov. 29 - Dec. 4 in Decatur, Ala.
