Porter goal lifts Bruins past SCU, 1-0

OMAHA, Neb. -- Freshman Alyssa Porter scored in the 72nd minute to give the Bellevue University women's soccer team a 1-0 victory over Southwestern Christian University in MCAC action Sunday afternoon at Tranquility Park.

The Bruins won their sixth-straight game, improving to 9-3 on the season and 3-0 in the MCAC. Southwestern Christian fell to 3-9-1 overall and 0-2-1 in league play.

After both teams went scoreless for the first 71 minutes of the game, Jenica Bloom narrowly missed giving the Bruins the lead as her shot in the box rebounded off the left post to Porter who shot the ball past Eagle goalkeeper Amy Witt at 71:30. It was Porter's third goal of the season.

Ana Price recorded her fourth shutout of the season, improving to 8-2, while playing all 90 minutes in goal.

The Bruins held a 17-1 advantage in shots and an 8-0 margin in shots on goal.

Bellevue will head to Fremont, Neb. on Thursday, Oct. 14, for a 4 p.m. non-conference match at Midland University.
