Bruins blank Briar Cliff, 6-0

SIOUX CITY, Iowa -- Senior Erika Roberts and freshman Ana Price each scored a pair of goals to lead the Bellevue University women's soccer team to a 6-0 shutout at Briar Cliff University Wednesday night in non-conference action at Faber Field.

Bellevue, who also got goals from redshirt freshman Jenica Bloom and sophomore Paige Wischmann, improved to 1-1 on the season while the Chargers dropped to 0-2.

Wischmann scored the Bruins' first goal of the season on a pass by Araceli Zamarripa just 1:23 into the contest. Bloom punched in BU's second score with an assist by Emily Hester at 14:05. Roberts increased the lead to 3-0 on an assist by Wischmann at 23:51. Price collected the fourth goal of the first half on a pass by Roberts at 37:21

Price scored her second goal at 52:30 with an assist by Bloom and Roberts completed the game's scoring in the 71st minute with her second goal on an assist by Amy Stigge.

Price split time in goal with sophomore Sarah Boone as the duo shared the shutout. Price recorded one save, while Boone notched a pair of saves in the win.

Bellevue held a decisive 27-7 advantage in shots and a 20-3 margin in shots on goal.

The Bruins will travel to Orange City, Iowa on Saturday, Sept. 11 for a 2 p.m. match at Northwestern (Iowa) College. Bellevue will return home on Sunday, Sept. 12 for a 7 p.m. showdown with Concordia (Neb.) University.
