Nicolarsen inks Darkoah for 2011 season

BELLEVUE, Neb. – Head women’s soccer coach Andy Nicolarsen announced today the signing of Mercy Darkoah (Sheffield, England/Sheffield Wednesday Ladies FC) to a letter of intent to join the Bruins’ soccer program in 2011.

A native of Sheffield, England, Darkoah is the daughter of David and Vanessa Moorhouse and a four-year member and team captain for Sheffield Wednesday Ladies FC youth teams.  Last season, she led her team to the league championship with 14 goals and 16 assists.

In addition to soccer, she also competed in track and field, cross country, rounders and field hockey at Wales High School in Kiveton Park, Sheffield.

An excellent student, Darkoah intends to major in psychology at Bellevue.

“Mercy comes from a strong soccer culture and has a passion for the game,” said Nicolarsen. “She will adjust quickly and help contribute to our success next season.”
