Pinedo leads BU to fourth place finish at Top of Texas

LUBBOCK, Texas -- Junior Maria Pinedo continued her strong play on Tuesday, leading the Bellevue University women's golf team into a tie for fourth place at the nine-team Top of Texas Invitational being played at the par-72, 6,119-yard Lakeridge Country Club.

All teams played 36 holes on Tuesday, and the Bruins finished with a 54-hole team score of 1027. BU improved its third-round score by 25 strokes over the second round with rounds 350 and 325 on Tuesday. Bellevue tied for fourth with Hope International

Texas Wesleyan University ran away with the team title, finishing at 83-over par, 30 strokes ahead of second-place Angelo State University. 

Pinedo finished in fourth place in the 54-player field after posting rounds of 80 and 78 for a 54-hole total of 22-over par (236). Her second round was highlighted by recording 11 pars. She had two birdies and ten pars in the third round.

Ilysia Ibnu made the biggest jump on the day, posting rounds of 87 and 78 to finish the tournament at 45-over par and in a tie for 25th place. She posted an even-par score of 36 on the front nine of the third round, recording three birdies in the round. 

Megan Harty shot rounds of 88 and 89 and finished the tournament at 51-over par and in 30th place. She had four birdies on the day.  

Chloe Blandinieres and Aaricia Noel-Traissac both finished in a tie for 34th place at 55-over par. Blandinieres carded rounds of 95 and 84, while Traissac finished the tournament with rounds of 96 and 85.  

The Bruins will head to Windsor, Colo. next Mon.-Tue., Mar. 18-19, to compete in the Battle at the Dance, which will be played at the Raindance National Golf Club.
