AXTELL, Neb. – The Bellevue University women's golf team is currently in third place in the six-team Nebraska Intercollegiate being played at the 5,999-yard, par-72 Awarii Dunes Golf Course.
The Bruins shot a team score of 354 and trail NCAA Division II squads Nebraska-Kearney and Wayne State. UNK leads the field at 33-over par (321). WSC is in second place, six strokes back.
Maria Pinedo was the top BU golfer on the day after shooting a 12-over 84, putting her in seventh place in the 30-player field. She had seven pars on the day.
Chloe Blandinieres is in eighth place after shooting a 13-over 85. Her round was highlighted by a birdie on the par-5 first hole. She also had six pars in the first round.
Ilysia Ibnu registered a 20-over 92 and is tied for 16th place. She had one birdie and six pars in the opening round.
Aaricia Noel-Traissac finished a 21-over par and is tied for 18th place. She had four pars on the day.
Rounding out the day for the Bruins was Megan Harty, who shot a 24-over 96 and is tied for 22nd place. Harty collected five pars in her first round.
UNK's Brooke King leads the field at 2-over par. Wayne's Abbigail Brodersen is two strokes back at 4-over par.
Saturday's final round will begin with a 10 a.m. shotgun start.
