Bruins in eighth after first day at NW Iowa National Invite

LeMARS, Iowa -- Led by junior Maria Pinedo, the Bellevue University women's golf team is currently in eighth place after the first two rounds of the Northwest Iowa National Invitational being played at the 5,924-yard, par-72 Willow Creek Golf Club. 

The Bruins shot rounds of 320 and 322 on Monday, putting them at 66-over par after 36 holes. 

Keiser leads the 12-team field after firing rounds of 6-under par 282 and 1-under 287. The Seahawks have a 15-stroke lead over second-place Texas Wesleyan University. 

Pinedo carded rounds of 6-over 78 and 4-over 76 and is currently in 18th place in the 62-player field at 10-over par. Pinedo had three birdies in her first round and one birdie and 13 pars in her second round of play on Monday. 

Megan Harty is tied for 26th after posting rounds of 78 and 82. She had four birdies on the day, including three in the second round. 

Ilysia Ibnu shot identical rounds of 10-over 82 and is tied for 38th place. Her day was sparked by three birdies, including two on the front nine of the second round, where she produced a 1-over 37.  

Aaricia Noel-Traissac is tied for 41st after shooting an 11-over 83 and a 10-over 82. Her day was highlighted by a pair of birdies on the front nine of each round.  

Chloe Blandinieres registered rounds of 82 and 87 and is tied for 48th place. She had four birdies on the day.  

Keiser's Jolie Wong is the individual leader at 5-under par after 36 holes of play. 

Tuesday's third and final round will begin with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
