BU in 11th place after opening round at Swan Memorial

BROOMFIELD, Colo. -- Led by junior Maria Pinedo, the Bellevue University women's golf team currently sits in 11th place after the opening round of play at the Swan Memorial being played at the 5,996-yard, par-72 Broadlands Golf Course. Bellevue was the only non-NCAA Division II squad in the 14-team field. 

The Bruins shot a team score of 41-over par 329. West Texas A&M University leads the team race at even par (288). Colorado Christian is 11 strokes back at 11-over par. 

Pinedo fired a 7-over 79 and is currently in 33rd place in the 87-player field. Pinedo's round consisted of 12 pars, five bogeys, and a double bogey. 

Chloe Blandinieres is one stroke behind Pinedo after carding an 8-over 80, putting her in a tie for 39th place. Her round was highlighted by a birdie on the par-5 fifth hole. She also recorded nine pars in her round. She had a 1-over 37 on the front nine. 

Aaricia Noel-Traissac tallied an 11-over 83 and is in a tie for 53rd place. Her opening round was sparked by a birdie on the par-4 seventh hole. She also had seven pars in the first round. 

Ilysia Ibnu registered a 15-over 87 and is in a tie for 66th place. She had nine pars in the opening 18 holes of play. 

Megan Harty produced a 17-over 89 and is in a tie for 73rd place. A birdie on the par-5 15th hole highlighted her opening round of play. 

West Texas A&M's Gam Songprasert leads the tournament at 6-under par after shooting an opening-round 66. She has a five-stroke lead over second place Zoey Rodriguez of Colorado State-Pueblo.  

The tournament will conclude on Saturday (Sept. 9) with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.
