BU in 27th after opening round at Nationals

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla -- Led by senior Allison Temple, the Bellevue University women's golf team is currently in 27th place after the opening round of the 2021 NAIA Women's Golf National Championship being played at the 6,102-yard, par-72 Rose Creek Golf Course. 

The Bruins shot a team score of 38-over par (326) in Tuesday's first round.

Keiser University leads the field after carding a 1-over par team score of 289. 

Senior Allison Temple fired the Bruins' top round on the day, finishing with a 2-over 74 which puts her in a tie for 19th place in the 155-player field. Temple was consistent throughout the day, finishing with 14 pars, three bogeys, and a birdie. 

Senior Dominika Gradecka tallied a 9-over 81, which put her in a tie for 108th place in the individual standings. She had 11 pars in her opening round.  

Sophomore Shanice DeGee registered a 9-over 81 as well and is also tied for 108th place. DeGee had one birdie and 10 pars in her first round. 

Sophomore Tylah Saifoloi rounded out BU's scoring with an 18-over par 90. After struggling with a 15-over par 51 in her first nine holes, Saifoloi rebounded with a 3-over 39 in her final nine holes, including a birdie on the 495-yard, par-5 eighth hole.  

There is a four-way tie for first at 3-under par in the individual standings between Southeastern University's Danielle Owens, Taylor University's Taylor French, Campbellsville University's Gracie Parrott, and William Jessup University's Gurman Knight. 

The Bruins will tee off at 8:00 a.m. in Wednesday's second round.
