SILVIS, Ill. -- In one of the biggest comebacks in school history, the Bellevue University women's golf team erased a 17-stroke deficit to claim the team title at the TPC Deere Run Invitational being played at the 5,850-yard, par-72 TPC Deere Run Golf Course.
BU, who entered the day 17 strokes behind host William Penn University, shot a team total of 328, 30 strokes better than Monday's opening round. The Bruins' 36-hole team total of 686 (358-328) was five strokes better than WPU's 691 team total. Davenport was 10 strokes off the pace with a 696 total.
The victory was the second-straight team title for the Bruins who also won the Bruin Spring Break Invite on March 13-14 in New Braunfels, Texas.
Senior Dominika Gradecka won the individual title after shooting the tournament's best round of 5-over par 77. She finished the tournament at 16-over par (83-77 -- 160). Her round was highlighted by 12 pars and a birdie.
Shanice DeGee tied for fourth after shooting a 9-over 81 for a two-day total of 169 (88-81). She registered nine pars and one birdie on the day.
Tylah Saifoloi finished in a tie for 11th place after firing an 11-over 83 on Tuesday for a 177 total (94-83). Her round was sparked by nine birdies.
Allison Temple carded a 15-over 87 with seven pars and finished in a tie for 19th place in the 72-player field.
Bellevue will travel to Lincoln, Neb. on Tuesday-Wednesday, April 6-7, where they will compete in the Bulldog Spring Invite. The tournament will be hosted by Concordia (Neb.) University and will be played at the Highlands Golf Course.
