KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Freshmen Maria Saavedra and Renee Santoyo were both named NAIA All-Americans in an announcement made today by the NAIA-Women's Golf Coaches Association All-America Committee.

Saavedra earned first team honors, while Santoyo was placed on the second team.

The duo helped pace the Bruins to an 11th place finish at the NAIA Women's Golf National Championships last week. Saavedra finished the tournament in a tie for fourth place after firing a final round even-par score of 72 for a 72-hole total of 306 (79-78-77-72). Her even-par score of 72 tied for the lowest final round of the tournament and earned her a spot on the all-tournament team.

Santoyo, who placed 55th at the National Championships, finished in the top five in eight events during the 2012-13 campaign, winning one title. She was second on the team with a 78.48 average per round.

Saavedra won five events in 2012-13 and finished in the top five in nine events while leading the Bruins with a 76.84 stroke average.

Saavedra and Santoyo became the first All-Americans in Bellevue women's golf history.
