Tabor earns 60-47 victory over Bruins

BELLEVUE, Neb. -- The visiting Tabor College women's basketball team hit 14-of-29 3-point attempts as the Bluejays earned a 60-47 victory over Bellevue University on Halloween night at the Gordon Lozier Athletic Center.  

With the loss, the Bruins fell to 1-2 on the season. Tabor improved to 2-0 overall. 

Ashtyn Arnold led the Bruins with 15 points and seven rebounds. She was 6-of-12 from the field. Gabby Moore added 10 points, six assists, and a pair of rebounds. 

Kassidy Beam paced the Bluejays with 13 points on 4-of-7 shooting from behind the arc. Lillie Veer added nine points and four boards.  

The Bruins overcame an early four-point deficit with a 6-0 run to take a 9-7 lead midway through the first quarter. The Bluejays countered by making 3-of-6 3-pointers in the opening frame to take a 19-14 lead after the opening 10 minutes of play. Moore paced the Bruins in the first quarter with six points and two assists. Beam led the Bluejays with six first-quarter points. 

After a 3-pointer by Miyah McGee gave Tabor its biggest lead of the first half at seven points (25-18), the Bruins responded with a 5-0 run capped by a 3-point play from Arnold to pull to within two points at 25-23 at the 5:37 mark. 

The Bluejays hit three-straight 3-pointers as Tabor ended the first half on a 13-2 run to take a 38-25 lead into the intermission. 

Arnold led BU in the first half with 11 points on 5-of-9 shooting while adding three rebounds. Moore collected eight points and three assists. 

Beam paced the TC offense with nine first-half points. She was 3-of-5 from long range. 

After Moore opened the third frame with a layup, the Bluejays scored seven straight to expand the margin to 18 points at 45-27 with 6:52 left in the quarter. The Bruins got as close as 12 points before a 3-pointer by Werth made it 52-37 heading into the final quarter. 

Three points from Zakiyyah Muhammad pulled BU to within 10 points at 55-45 with five minutes remaining in the contest. Tabor put the game away with five-straight points, and BU went scoreless for over four minutes as Tabor earned the 60-47 victory.  

The Bruins will travel to Crete, Neb., this Friday, Nov. 3, for a 6 p.m. matchup with Doane University.
