MADISON, S.D. -- For the fourth time this season, sophomore forward Elexis Martinez has been named the North Star Athletic Association's women's basketball Player of the Week for her performances in last week's home victories over Viterbo University and Waldorf University.
Martinez averaged 20.5 points and 8.5 rebounds per game in the two conference wins. In the 68-56 victory over Viterbo, Martinez recorded her team-leading fourth double-double of the season, finishing with 14 points and tying a career-high with 13 rebounds. She followed that up with a career-high 27 points in BU's 81-65 victory over Waldorf University. For the week, Martinez was 14-of-28 from the field (50 percent) and converted 13-of-18 free throws.
She currently leads the team and the NSAA with 14.8 points per game and 32 blocked shots. Martinez leads BU and ranks ninth in the league with 6.3 rebounds per contest.
The Bruins will travel to Forest City, Iowa this Friday, Jan. 25 for a 5:30 p.m. matchup with Waldorf University.
