VALLEY CITY, N.D. -- The Bruins shot just 31 percent from the field as Valley City State handed Bellevue University its second-straight loss, with a 67-54 victory over BU Sunday afternoon in North Star Athletic Association women's basketball action at the W.E. Osmon Fieldhouse. 

The loss dropped the Bruins to 12-8 on the season and 3-2 in the NSAA. VCSU improved to 7-9 overall and 4-1 in league play. 

Fourth the fourth-consecutive contest, freshman Faith Ross led BU with 15 points, three steals, and two assists. Morgan Cuffe added 11 points and three rebounds. 

Mackenzie Huber led the Vikings with 19 points, 10 rebounds, and two steals. Dierra Diegel added 10 points and eight rebounds. Alli Vandal chipped in with 10 points and five boards. 

After a 3-pointer by Taeha Pankey gave the Bruins an 11-10 lead in the first quarter, The Vikings went on a 10-1 run and never trailed the remainder of the contest. 

The Bruins drew to within five points at 35-30 following a jumper by Laura Jurek with 3:34 left in the third quarter. An 8-0 run gave VCSU an 11-point advantage before the Vikings took a 45-36 lead entering the fourth quarter. 

A 3-pointer by Alexis Bentz gave the Vikings their largest lead at 60-40 before VCSU settled for the 67-54 victory.  

The Bruins return home on Friday, Jan. 18 for a 5:30 p.m. NSAA contest against Viterbo University in the Gordon Lozier Athletic Center.
