MADISON, S.D. -- For the third-straight week Bellevue University sophomore Elexis Martinez has been named the North Star Athletic Association Women's Basketball Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday.

The award is the fourth of Martinez's BU career as she also picked up the honor on Oct. 29 and Nov. 5 of this season and Nov. 20, 2017.

Martinez averaged 13.5 points and 9.5 rebounds per game while totaling 13 blocked shots to lead the Bruins to a pair of wins over Peru State College and Cottey College.

She notched her team-leading second double-double of the season in BU's 80-79 triumph over intra-state foe Peru State, finishing the game with 20 points and 12 rebounds. Her eight blocked shots against the Bobcats were a program record.

In Bellevue's defense-oriented battle against Cottey, Martinez went for seven points and team-highs of seven rebounds and five blocked shots to go along with three steals.

For the season Martinez is averaging 18.1 points, 7.4 rebounds per game. Both of that statistics along with her 16 blocked shots, 56.8 field goal percentage, and 43 made free throws lead the team.

Bellevue concludes their six-game homestand on Tuesday, Nov. 13 when they host Nebraska Christian College at 6 p.m. in the Gordon Lozier Athletic Center.
