KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced Monday that 279 Division II women's basketball students-athletes have been named 2017-18 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes.
From Bellevue, seniors Beth Walker (Dubuque, Iowa) and Alexandra Bader (Vacaville, Calif.) as well as sophomore Marylyn Mozena (Weeping Water, Neb.) were honored. It was the fourth time Walker has been named a Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete (Volleyball, 2014, 2015; Basketball, 2016-17, 2017-18) and the first time for both Bader and Mozena.
Walker started 20 of 21 games in which appeared and averaged 7.3 points and 6.0 rebounds per game. She finished third on the team in both steals (37) and blocked shots (16). She's a two-time NSAA Basketball Scholar-Athlete, two-time Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete, and a member of the first senior class in program history.
Bader appeared in 27 games for the Bruins averaging 15.9 minutes per contest where she scored 1.9 points and 2.4 rebounds per game. Bader began her collegiate career with Linfield College and Solano College before making her way to Bellevue where she has been a two-time NSAA Scholar-Athlete and a part of the first senior class in program history.
Mozena saw action in 18 contests where she averaged 2.1 points and 1.3 rebounds per game in an average of 7.6 minutes of action. Mozena came over to the basketball team after spending her first two years at BU playing volleyball where she was twice an NSAA Scholar-Athlete and Bellevue's Champion of Character representative as a freshman.
In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status.

The Bellevue women's basketball team wrapped up the 2017-18 season with a 19-14 overall record (11-5 NSAA), earning the three-seed in the NSAA Tournament, and receiving votes in the Final Coaches' Top 25 Poll ahead of the National Tournament.
