Two Bruins cited in North Star Post-Season Awards Program

MADISON, S.D. -- The Bellevue University women's basketball team capped off a successful debut season on Monday morning when it was announced that two student-athletes were named in the North Star Athletic Association's Post-Season Awards Program.

Junior guard/forward Caletria Curtis (Denham Springs, La.) was named to the five-person All-NSAA Second Team. Curtis led the team in numerous categories including; scoring (11.2 PPG), rebounding (8.5 RPG), free throws made (105), and steals (56). Additionally, she ranked second on the team with 72 assists and third with 15 blocked shots. In 16 conference games, she averaged 11.7 points and 8.4 rebounds per game.

Junior guard Ryleigh McCartney (Frontenac, Kan.) received an Honorable Mention All-NSAA nod. McCartney led the Bruins in both minutes played (28.0 MPG) and free throw percentage (77.6%) and tied for the team lead with 59 three-pointers. She pulled down 3.5 rebounds per game, dished out 49 assists, and recorded 31 steals on the season. In NSAA play, McCartney averaged 8.8 points per game and 3.8 rebounds per game.

The duo help Bellevue post a 16-15 overall record in its inaugural season. The Bruins went 9-7 in NSAA play during the regular-season to earn a home game in the NSAA Tournament Quarterfinals.

With eligibility remaining on the clock for everyone on the roster the Bruins should have a strong core to build around in the 2017/18 season.
