Curtis nabs second Player of the Week Award

MADISON, S.D. -- Bellevue University junior Caletria Curtis (Denham Springs, La.) has been chosen as the North Star Athletic Association Women's Basketball Player of the Week for her performances last week.

Curtis played a key role in leading Bellevue to a pair of conference victories by averaging13.5 points and 11.0 rebounds per game over the weekend. She scored 14 points and pulled down nine rebounds in a 66-56 victory over Presentation on Friday evening. She followed that up with a double-double of 13 points and 13 rebounds to go along with four steals in a 66-46 win over Waldorf on Saturday. For the week, Curtis connected on 52.4 percent (11-of-21) of her field goal attempts.

This is the second Player of the Week Award for Curtis who previously won the honor on Nov. 28. For the season, she is now averaging 11.3 points and 8.9 rebounds per game. She ranks second in the league in rebounds per game and is 16th in points per game. Additionally, she has swiped a team-leading 28 steals and dished out 36 assists which ranks second on the club.

The Bruins are currently 9-6 overall on the season and 3-2 in North Star play. They are in the midst of a 12-day layoff before returning to host the Fairfield Inn Holiday Classic. Bellevue plays Midland on Thursday, Dec. 29 before taking on College of Saint Mary on Friday, Dec. 30. Both games are scheduled for 3 p.m.
