Curtis recognized as NSAA Player of the Week

MADISON, S.D. -- Bellevue University junior Caletria Curtis (Denham Springs, La.) will see her name etched into the record books after becoming the first player in program history to be named the North Star Athletic Association's Women's Basketball Player of the Week.

Curtis had a huge weekend for Bellevue, helping the Bruins to a pair of victories over Saint Mary (Kan.) and No. 25 Haskell (Kan.). For the week, she averaged 13.0 points, 12.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 2.0 steals per game. She was 12-of-22 (54.5 percent) from the field.

She recorded her second double-double of the season (19 points, 10 rebounds) in a 77-56 triumph over the Spires in the first game of the Bruin Thanksgiving Classic. Curtis followed that performance up by matching a career-high with 15 rebounds – to go along with 7 points, 4 assists, and 3 steals – in a 78-58 upset victory over Haskell, the first win over a ranked opponent in program history.

For the season, Curtis is one of two Bruins averaging better than 10 points per game. She checks in with a scoring average of 10.1 to go along with a team-leading 8.5 rebounds per game. She also leads the team with 19 steals and ranks second on the club with 27 assists.

The Bruins have now won back-to-back games to improve their overall record to 6-4 on the season. They'll begin conference play on Friday, Dec. 2 when they travel to La Crosse, Wis. for a 5:30 p.m. game against Viterbo University.
