Outfielder Morbach signs with BU softball

BELLEVUE, Neb. -- The Bellevue University softball team, under head coach Michala Cimino, announced today the signing of Alyssa Morbach (Gretna, Neb./Gretna HS) to a National Letter of Intent to continue her academic and athletic careers at BU beginning in the fall of 2020.

The daughter of Lori and Ryan Glatter and Jim and Kathy Morbach, Alyssa comes to Bellevue from Gretna High School where she was an outfielder for Coach Bill Heard.

This past season, Morbach hit .214 with three doubles and nine RBI to go along with five stolen bases. For her high school career, she batted .281 with six doubles, 23 RBI, and 10 stolen bases.

An exceptional student, Morbach has been a member of Gretna High School's honor roll in every quarter of her high school career and was an academic all-conference selection in each of the last two seasons. She intends to major in Biology at Bellevue.

Morbach plays her club softball for Coach Scott Gerdes with Nebraska Gold.

Morbach joins earlier signees Sydni Haugaard (Plattsmouth, Neb./Plattsmouth HS) and Amanda Placzek (Omaha, Neb./Mercy HS) in the Bruins' 2020 recruiting class.

The Bruins are coming off a season in which they posted a 44-20 overall record and registered a 23-5 mark in conference play. After a second-place finish in the regular-season, Bellevue advanced to the NSAA Championship Series and earned an at-large bid to the NAIA National Tournament. For BU, it was their 10th National Tournament Appearance and seventh in just the last 10 seasons.
